This year we’re celebrating our 16th birthday! Crazy, we know… but time flies when you’re creating skincare (and having fun doing it). Since we launched, lots has happened in beauty and beyond, but our commitment to changing people’s skin for the better remains the same.
With all that being said, we’ve got new brand fans and launches under our belt, and so thought we’d take a minute to reintroduce ourselves, our all-star product lineup and how we’re doing things differently.
A little bit about us
We are, proudly, an Australian-made skincare brand founded in 2008. Since day one, we’ve been cruelty-free and focused on formulating effective cosmeceutical products that come backed by our Medical Advisory Council.
Our Medical Advisory Council is a group of dermatologists and experts who provide us with advice when it comes to treating skin concerns, skin types and keep our team across the latest research in dermatology (which is no mean feat).
Our formulation philosophy
With so much skincare out there, what actually makes us different?
Our formulation philosophy is actually pretty simple. We use clinically-proven ingredients at the right concentrations to create real change in the skin (as in, results you can see). Our products are packed with actives to target common skin issues like breakouts, pigmentation, dryness, sensitivity and ageing.
We’re also about giving you access to the best in innovation without unnecessary packaging, accessories or fluffy stuff. Just great skincare, and all the advice you need on how to use it for your healthiest complexion — because everyone deserves to feel good in their skin.
So wait, is Skinstitut medical grade?
First up, it’s important to make a point that ‘medical grade’ isn’t really a regulated term in skincare. But we can attest to the fact that our products are backed by medical professionals. They’re also what’s called cosmeceuticals (you can read up on that here). We use scientifically-proven ingredients like Retinol, Niacinamide and L-Ascorbic Acid at the right concentrations, because too little or too much of an ingredient can render a formula ineffective. The end result? Skincare that works.
A note on routines
What’s the point of having a bathroom full of products if you’re unsure how to use them? We care a lot about education and routine-building because every face is different, and there’s no such thing as one-size-fits-all. We also want you to get the most out of Skinstitut. Here’s how to build your regimen:
- Take our skin quiz. This handy online tool takes all your individual concerns and goals into account, creating a bespoke routine just for you. Bonus: it can be done from the couch.
- Take a look at our Instagram or TikTok. Both are packed with specific routines for all types of skin concerns. Bonus: you can DM us any time!
- Browse by regimen or skin type on our website. That way, you’ll only be shown products that are aligned with your skin goals. If you’re still stuck, there’s a handy chat function that answers most of our FAQs.
- Head into your closest Laser Clinics. We’re pretty lucky to have clinic partners all around Australia with therapists who can tailor a routine suited to your skincare.
Meet some of our hero products
Whether you’re new here or just curious, here are a few of our best-sellers and hero products.
An easy but effective cleanser that will clean your skin without stripping or over-drying.
An OG and best-seller, our scrub is a hard-working formula to exfoliate, decongest and smooth. It’s not scratchy (we use rounded Jojoba Beads) and ocean-friendly.
Chasing brighter, bouncier skin? This is the serum for you. Formulated with Vitamin C and Ferulic Acid, it boosts collagen production and unifies skin tone.
Whether you want to target pigment, breakouts or signs of ageing, our Retinol Serum boosts cell turnover, bringing healthy cells to the surface for smooth, even skin.
What’s skincare without SPF? Age Defence 50+ is a 3-in-1 broad spectrum sunscreen to hydrate and protect the skin.
